Special Sunday Event: Vesak (Buddha's Birthday)
Vesak is the annual celebration of the Buddha's life and enlightenment. It is the most important festival celebrated by Buddhist communities in South East Asia. The visiting sisters have graciously offered to bring this ceremony especially for the Vietnamese community of Honolulu. We will be joined by many more of our Vietnamese friends and have the opportunity to enjoy a mindful lunch together afterwards. The ceremony will include dharma talk, guided meditation, and chanting primarily in Vietnamese. We invite you to enjoy your breathing and the beautiful decorations that will adorn the alter. Look out for the ritual bathing of the baby Buddha! This act symbolizes watering the seeds of Buddha nature within all of us.
Finding Balance and Clarity Retreat
Saturday (06/07): 7 am - 4 pm
The retreat "Finding Balance & Clarity in the Age of Anxiety" offers a transformative experience focused on holistic well-being and inner peace. Participants are guided on a journey of self-discovery and relaxation through a combination of restorative yoga asana, breathwork (Pranayama), meditation, and mantra chanting (Kirtan).
The retreat begins with restorative yoga asana sessions that rejuvenate the body and release tension, promoting physical relaxation and alignment. Participants are encouraged to connect with their breath through Pranayama techniques, harnessing the power of prana (life force energy) to cultivate a sense of calm and balance.
Guided meditation sessions provide a space for introspection and gaining insight, allowing participants to quiet the mind, reduce anxiety, and foster mental clarity. The practice of mantra chanting and Kirtan further elevates the spirit, creating a harmonious and uplifting atmosphere that nourishes the soul.
Through this integrated approach, the retreat offers a unique opportunity for individuals to find harmony and equilibrium amidst the challenges of modern life. Participants are invited to explore the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit, fostering a sense of balance, clarity, and inner peace in the midst of the age of anxiety.
